- Does the converter keep transparency?
- Yes. The canvas is never filled with a background color, so transparent areas from PNG or WebP sources stay transparent in the 32-bit icon.
- What size should my icon be?
- Windows shows 16x16 icons in title bars and small lists, 32x32 and 48x48 in Explorer views, and 256x256 for large icons. The ICO directory cannot describe anything larger than 256x256, so keep the width and height at 256 or less.
- Does one .ico file contain several sizes?
- No. This converter writes one image per .ico file. To cover several sizes, convert the same source again with different dimensions.
- Can I use the .ico file as a website favicon?
- Yes. Browsers request /favicon.ico from your site root by default, or you can reference the file with a link rel="icon" tag. A 32x32 or 48x48 icon is a common choice.
