Многоязычный генератор слагов

Конвертация текста в URL-слаги — китайский→пиньинь, японская кана→ромадзи, кириллица→латиница. Три режима, вывод в реальном времени.

Paste any text — Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, or plain Latin — and this tool converts it to a clean URL slug in real time. Switch between three modes: Transliterate (Chinese characters, including Japanese kanji, become pinyin; Japanese kana become romaji; Cyrillic becomes Latin letters), Strip (removes non-Latin characters), or Keep (preserves original Unicode characters). Choose your separator (hyphen or underscore), case, and optional max length. Everything runs in your browser; your text is never sent to a server.

How to use the Multilingual Slug Generator

  1. 1

    Paste your text

Type or paste any text into the input box — titles, headings, product names, or article names. Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, Greek and Arabic text can be transliterated; Korean Hangul is kept only in Keep mode, and Thai script is removed.

  2. 2

    Choose a non-Latin handling mode

Select Transliterate (default) to romanize the text — Chinese characters (including Japanese kanji) to pinyin, Japanese kana to romaji, Cyrillic to Latin. Select Strip to remove non-Latin characters. Select Keep to preserve the original Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Cyrillic characters in the slug.

  3. 3

    Adjust separator, case, and options

Pick hyphen (-) or underscore (_) as the word separator. Choose lowercase (recommended for SEO) or Preserve to retain original capitalization. Toggle stopword removal and optionally set a maximum character length for the output slug.

  4. 4

    Copy the result

The slug updates in real time as you type or change options. Click the copy button next to the output field to copy the slug to your clipboard, then paste it directly into your CMS URL field, router config, or database.

Multilingual Slug Generator FAQ

How do I convert Chinese text to a URL slug?
Paste your Chinese text into the input, select Transliterate mode, and the tool converts each character to its pinyin romanization using the pinyin-pro library, which picks the reading of polyphonic characters from the surrounding word (its published benchmark reports 99.846% accuracy). Traditional characters are mapped to simplified forms first, so 重慶 and 銀行 come out as chong-qing and yin-hang. For example, '你好世界' becomes 'ni-hao-shi-jie'. The conversion runs in your browser, and your text is not sent to any server.
What is the difference between strip, keep, and transliterate mode?
Strip removes all non-Latin characters from the slug — useful when you need a purely ASCII output. Keep preserves the original Unicode characters in the slug, producing slugs like '你好-world'. Transliterate (default) converts Chinese characters to pinyin, Japanese kana to romaji, and Cyrillic to Latin letters — the most SEO-friendly option for multilingual content.
Does this tool support Japanese text to romaji slug?
Partly. Hiragana and katakana are converted to romaji with the wanakana library (Hepburn-style), so 'タワー' becomes 'tawaa'. Kanji are read as Chinese characters and turned into Mandarin pinyin: '東京タワー' becomes 'dong-jing-tawaa', not 'tokyo-tawaa'. For a Japanese reading, type the kanji in kana first ('とうきょう タワー' → 'toukyou-tawaa'), or type the romaji yourself.
How does Cyrillic text get converted to Latin in the slug?
Cyrillic transliteration is handled by @sindresorhus/slugify's built-in transliterate module, which maps Cyrillic characters to their standard Latin equivalents. For example, 'Привет мир' becomes 'privet-mir'. This works for Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian, and other Cyrillic-based scripts.
Does it transliterate Korean (Hangul)?
No. Hangul is not romanized: Transliterate and Strip modes remove it, so '서울 여행 가이드' produces an empty slug. Keep mode leaves the Hangul in place ('서울-여행-가이드'). For a romanized Korean slug, write the romanization yourself (for example 'seoul-yeohaeng-gaideu' under the Revised Romanization of Korean) and paste it in.
What does 'remove stopwords' do?
When enabled (default), common English stopwords like 'the', 'a', 'and', 'of' are removed from the slug. For example, 'the quick brown fox' becomes 'quick-brown-fox' instead of 'the-quick-brown-fox'. Only Latin words you typed are filtered; pinyin produced by transliteration is left intact. Disable the toggle if you need every word preserved.
What is a URL slug and why does it matter for SEO?
A URL slug is the human-readable, URL-safe part of a web address, like '/multilingual-slug-generator'. Good slugs use lowercase letters, hyphens as separators, and avoid special characters or spaces. They improve SEO because search engines use slug keywords to understand page content, and they make URLs more shareable and readable for users.
Can I use this slug generator for CMS platforms like WordPress or Shopify?
Yes. WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, and most CMS platforms auto-generate slugs from post titles, but for multilingual content — especially Chinese or Japanese titles — they often produce garbled or empty slugs. Use this tool to generate a clean transliterated slug, then paste it into your CMS's permalink or handle field.
Is there a maximum slug length recommendation?
Google recommends keeping URLs under 2,048 characters, but for SEO-effective slugs, aim for under 60–75 characters (3–5 keywords). Use the Max Length field to automatically trim output. Shorter slugs are more shareable and less likely to be truncated in search result snippets.
